iPhone 4 Retina Display vs the human eye

In a Wired article, DisplayMate president Raymond Soneira criticises Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, for claiming in his WWDC 2010 keynote speech that the iPhone 4 Retina Display has a resolution that exceeds the limit of the human eye. In the article, Soneira states that at a distance of 12 inches, the iPhone 4 Retina Display would need to have a resolution of 477 pixels per inch to exceed the limit of the human eye, which is 1/50 of a degree.

Using Soneira's own figures, this article demonstrates that Steve Jobs' claims are in fact valid, and that Soneira's calculations are inaccurate.
